Many families plan camping trips just before the kids have to get back
to school in the fall. The weather is starting to get less hot and
humid, and children are eager to have one last adventure before they

can lounge around on the shore or along the river's edge.
There
is nothing more serene than the experience of hiking through a quiet

noise one hears in most big cities and suburban areas. Instead, a person
can focus on the sounds of rushing waters, chirping birds, and the wind
whistling through the trees. It is a great time for self-reflection,

companions can take to the water in a canoe, a kayak, or even a couple
rubber inner tubes. You can spend the next few hours floating or
paddling down the river, enjoying nature's splendor.
Once you
decide to retire at a sand bar a few miles downriver, have the rest of
your party meet you there with a picnic and some sports equipment. The
kids can wade around in the water, and the adults can take in the
scenery, do some fishing, throw horseshoes, or just catch up with one
another. Regardless of what you do while spending time by the river,
make sure that everyone in your family is included in the fun. Vacations
are about bonding. Everyone in your household will be back to
participating in their own separate activities soon enough. Use this
time to be together and to make fond memories.
Some people are
lucky enough to have beautiful beaches within just a few hours driving
distance of their homes. If you happen to be one of those people, you
may want to take your family camping near the beach. There is always
some enjoyable way to pass the time while you are at the beach, even if
it involves dozing off to the sound of crashing waves. Plus, the kids
will have a great time building sandcastles, collecting shells,
swimming, burying each other in the sand, and catching up on their
summer reading lists.
